The NUT Black Teachers’ Conference is an annual event that allows the NUT’s black members to discuss and address issues of race equality, education, and the workplace. The conference plays an integral role in ensuring that the NUT’s work is in the interest of its black members and all black teachers.

The NUT uses ‘black’ in a political context to encompass members from African, African Caribbean, Asian, Chinese and Arab backgrounds.

Ealing NUT will pay for all your travel, accommodation, meals and delegate fees. You must pay £20 up front. This will be refunded upon arrival.

If you would like to go, please contact Ealing NUT secretary Stefan Simms.

Ealing NUT is hoping to set up a local social and political group for LGBT identified members of the union. If you are interested in joining such a group or would merely like to know more, please contact me.

In the meantime, I wish to draw LGBT members attention to the forthcoming LGBT NUT Caucus Meeting to be held on Saturday,

Stefan Simms & I will be attending the meeting.

Ealing teachers lobby parliament

parli-lobby-960

Ealing teachers joined the NUT national lobby of parliament in June to bring our concerns about education and teachers’ pay, workloads and pensions direct to Westminster.

NUT members succeeded in meeting 150 MPs face to face on the day, while many others will be lobbied in their constituencies over the months running up to the general election.

Ealing NUT members proudly took our association banner with us. As it says, “Education is a right, not a privilege.”
