J. P. Morrison, Director of Education, will only agree to meet with the NUT “once the policy has been agreed by the Trustees”. Furthermore, when I spoke with an associate and asked about their plans, he demanded to know who told me this and would not confirm or deny. This is clearly a worrying development.
The Diocese has had a meeting with headteachers, but they have yet to directly inform staff let alone meet with you.
Some headteachers have also privately expressed their opposition and concerns to me.
Finally, many parents will also have concerns and fears, they too have not been told of these plans by the Diocese.
We believe we have a proposal which addresses the needs and fears of the Diocese without having to undertake this unnecessary and dangerous wholescale academisation.
Academisation is a threat to your pay and conditions and to full trade union recognition.
If you are in one of the schools that has not yet met with us, please contact us in order to arrange a meeting. Don’t assume someone else will do it.
We need to meet with all members to hear your views and share our growing concerns.
